First, our friends at Athena Keke’s mentioned our watch party collabs in this Eater NYC article.
Sidebar: People often mix up Women’s Sports Rally and Athena Keke’s (understandable, we’ve co-hosted A LOT of events together). 🏠 Athena Keke’s is a queer bar for women’s sports coming to Clinton Hill soon. 💕 Women’s Sports Rally is a social club for women’s sports fans. We host events that build powerful women’s sports community. While Athena Keke’s has been working to open their space we’ve been collaborating on pop up events at venues in Brooklyn and Queens. When Athena Keke’s opens WSR will host events at their spot and other venues too! Make sense?
Then Wynton Wong covered our March Madness Final for 19thnews- spotlighting how Women’s Sports Rally events build community.
🙀 The 19thnews piece caught the attention of the iconic- Kelly Clarkson. Who invited WSR on for a segment called “Things I like”. The piece will air on May 13th just before the WNBA season kicks off. I’ll be sure to share the clip when it’s available. It was a fun experience- I got to watch the taping of the other segments and learned that Kelly is a Big Ellie stan just like us 👑 🐘. In other BTS news, we organized our first chartered bus- to the NY Exiles game!
We know lots of fans are excited to support our newest pro women’s sports team, but the travel to Mount Vernon can be barrier to attending games. The bus not only made the trip easier- it also made it social. We turned something hard into something fun. We met up with Athena Keke’s, Sporty Gays, and NYC Womxn’s Rugby Club for a pre-game tailgate. The rugby action was 🔥! We’re planning to organize another trip for the Pride Game- stay tuned 👀

I’m looking for someone who can help build a template and run the live panel so we can switch audio between the game sound and music [during commercial breaks].
